Wednesday: We should see the signing of the financial-reform legislation and it will likely dominate the headlines all day. Thursday: The National Association of Realtors will release home sales statistics which could have a major impact on the market. Also, the nonprofit Conference Board releases its June index of leading indicators. Friday: Light on economic news but we get an update from Ashland (ASH, $46.48, down $2.14), Ford Motor (F, $11.34, down $0.52), Ingersoll-Rand (IR, $34.37, down $0.56), Kimberly-Clark (KMB, $62.06, down $0.47), McDonald’s (MCD, $69.94, down $1.39), Ryder System (R, $39.83, down $1.34), Skechers USA (SKX, $32.09, down $1.83) and Verizon (VZ, $26.69, down $0.11).
Futures are pointing towards a slightly higher open as the Dow futures are higher by 30 points to 10,098 while the S&P 500 futures are up 4 points to 1,067. The Nasdaq 100 futures are showing a 7 advance and are at 1,809 as we head towards the opening bell.
